Artist

A Winnipeg Visual artist who works in oil paint, traditional drawing, digital drawing, and installation. An Honours student at the University of Mantioba Canada.

I process coming of age during catastrophic climate change, economic uncertainty, and a global pandemic by creating art. My recurring themes are suffering, coping, and healing, where cutesy original character design allows me and the viewer to examine emotionally uncomfortable topics without shutting down.

My paintings are influenced by Caravaggio’s innovations in oil painting; theatrical drama of figures in staged narrative settings with dramatic chiaroscuro lighting. I draw inspiration from Hieronymus Bosch’s dark worldbuilding and Trevor Henderson’s horror art for Sightings. The catalyst of my pink gaps in Bed, Room, and Room2 was Tom Thompson’s raw handling of paint and intentional gaps.

My process begins with brainstorming pencil sketches on paper. Then I stage photographs. Next, I digitally paint on top of and alter the photos in Procreate. Finally, I either make an archival print or paint it with oils. I have a physical, digital, physical process.
